Yoga Dance Retreat Koh Phangan


Day 1- Arrival, meeting each other and the retreat space.


Visions & Intentions

Day 2

AM: Flow Yoga – Vision, wishes and intentions:

We begin the day with mediation focused around our intentions and wishes for the retreat. Why we came / what do we wish to discover / transform is these 5 days. Followed by welcoming Yoga flow to open up the body, inviting and establishing these intentions into our system. 

PM: Contact Improvisation – Authentic Meetings.

In this workshop we will focus on how to meet each other through the body first. Leaving behind our pre conditions and judgements to discover contact improvisation principles of communication through touch and weight sharing.

‘Contact Improvisation is improvised dance form is based on the communication between two moving bodies that are in physical contact and their combined relationship to the physical laws that govern their motion—gravity, momentum, inertia. The body, in order to open to these sensations, learns to release excess muscular tension and abandon a certain quality of willfulness to experience the natural flow of movement.’ (Contact Quarterly)


Self Love

Day 3

AM: Flow Yoga – Love yourself

We start the morning with a meditation centred on self love. We will focus on creating a supportive environment for positive internal dialog with ourselves. Showing our gratitude for the body that supports us through a generous yoga flow.

PM: Coaching on Self Love

As a group we will dive into different techniques of establishing a self love practice for everyday use. We will share tools for building our self esteem, re-organising our thought patterns and life structures to better appreciate ourselves and our surroundings.

PM: Authentic Movement 

This workshop format guides us towards development of our self expression through moving eyes closed, contained in a supportive environment created by witnessing each other. Through this practice we can observe our internal processes, noticing the poetry contained in our improvised state. 

Authentic Movement is a mindful movement exploration between a mover and a witness which encourages the development of consciousness.’  (American Dance Therapie Association) 

PM: Singing circle

We will play with our voices and sing from our heart.



Day 4

AM: Active Mediation

This movement meditation will raise us out of the mind, move any repressed energy within the body. Opening and emptying all that inhibits us from flowing freely. 

PM: Water dance

Through this workshop we will experience the process of returning to our original fluid state; back to a restful and present womb like space. Exploring how we can move within waters flow, with greater applications of how we can move within life’s flow. Making us soft and receptive to nature, dancing organically with the support of the ocean.

PM: Sound healing

Gentle singing bowls offer the body and mind the opportunity to surrender into parasympathetic place of deep rest.



Day 5

AM: Restorative/Yin Yoga

Morning practice of soft and deep stretching yoga.

Day out. Optional waterfall trip to revitalise our energy, and on to a secret beach where we can dance in the water, rest and enjoy time together or alone.



Day 6

AM: Flow Yoga and Manifestation mediation

This morning will be a guided visualisation; stepping into our intentions and embracing our wishes. Followed by a gentle yet strong yoga flow.

PM: Coaching on future

How to manifest our wishes. Here we develop a step by step plan towards our goals. With the motivation and support you need to transform wishes into accomplishments.

PM: Contact Improvisation.

Building on first class we will explore the flow of improvisation in relationship to each other and our environment. We will reflect how we can use these techniques for meeting and connection in our relationships with the wider world. Manifesting the dances we want to have, the directions we want to travel.



Day 7

AM: Flow Yoga

We will start the day reflective meditation on the discoveries of the last days. Followed by a fun dance yoga sequence to prepare the body for the creative contact.

AM: Creative Contact

A playful end to the retreat; final stepping beyond the borders and restrictions that inhibit us from enjoying our true nature. 

PM: Celebration and goodbye
